Museums

The Wooden Boat Museum of Newfoundland and Labrador is a place where the history and traditions of wooden boat building comes to life! Our exhibits tell the story of the wooden boat and its contribution to the economy and way of life in this province. Accompanying the story are various full-sized boats and models. Take a step back in time in our Boat Shed. The smell of wood shavings fills the air. Here boats are built like they used to be, with tools from the past, hand-cut timber and oakum. Check out the website for more activities and history.

Winterton Veteran’s Memorial Park was originally constructed in 1948.  This war memorial was constructed to commemorate the veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict – and to remember the UN and NATO Peacekeepers.  In 1959, the Veteran’s Memorial Park was moved to its present location.

In 1998, the Winterton Veteran’s Memorial Park was refurbished and re-dedicated at the expense of Federal and Provincial Governments and of the citizens of Winterton.
